Arguably Cornwall’s most enthusiastic literary advocate is Rosamunde Pilcher, whose Cornwall-based novels formed the basis of an 89-episode German television series. I have just found out that filming locations were spread across the county, and included Sandhill House Country House Retreat with Bed & Breakfast and self-catering accommodation.
Indeed, having researched this information further the episode filmed in the Summer of 2010 was No 84 out of 103, The Wings of Love (Flugel der Liebe) by a German film crew, which is a testament to the architecture and intriguing setting of Sandhill House, Gunnislake, Cornwall.
Apparently, the garden was 'planted' with artificial flowers because filming took place at the wrong time of year for flowers. So, this explains why I keep finding 'grizzly' old artificial flowers all over the garden.
I have also just found out that you can book Rosamunde Pilcher tours of Cornwall which take in many of the locations referred to in her books, but Sandhill House, as a film set, is not included on this tour but why not book and actually stay in Sandhill House to relive this episode?
