Wow! We visited Cotehele House yesterday to see the, now famous, Flower Garland. It really was a spectacular riot of beautifully matching dried flowers - 40,000 of them to be precise and all grown by Cotehele's highly skilled and dedicated gardeners. And because it was such a beautiful Summer, the flowers excelled themselves in their displays and the skilled flower arrangers have used the extra flowers to decorate even more of the medieval hall - all around the doors and pillars. Simply stunning and it wasn't even finished but they have a deadline - 4pm on Friday, because the chandeliers have to go back up and then on Saturday the great fire will be lit and a succession of choirs will sing, a bit like an advent calendar, each day up to Christmas Day.
Sorry about the quality of the photos but we only had a phone with us but why not book your 'limited edition' luxury B&B at Sandhill House Country House Retreat and see this unique garland and find out the history of how this 'house' tradition came about? You will find much better photos on Cotehele's FB page, of course, and more information about events in the run up to Christmas https://en-gb.facebook.com/Cotehele.
