Christmas and the New Year are now behind Sandhill House Country House Retreat, with B&B accommodation and the self-catering, or B&B, Tamar Orchard Barn, so we are now looking forward to greeting guests who have booked a Spring break in Cornwall. Certainly the warmer, 'soft' climate here means that gardens burst into life a good few weeks before the rest of England, so it's the ideal antidote for the 'Winter blues'.
Sandhill House' gardens are at their very best in Spring so how about planning a Spring break to come and see the riot of colour we will have in the gardens, including daffodils, primroses, bluebells, camellias, followed by a mass of rhododendrons and azaleas. So, why not escape for a short Bed and Breakfast Cornwall holiday and even better get a great deal, four nights for the price of three, during February and March when you quote Sandhill short break with your telephone booking, and believe me you need four days to explore the stunning Tamar Valley and some of the gardens, below.
The Hamamelis are really at their best at the moment but the very late snowdrops will be at their best next week and then for 3 - 4 weeks after that.
The daffodils along the carriage drive have suddenly put on a tremendous 'burst' in the last week, and will be out in full force within 10 days and then will flower throughout February and March.

And then in May my favourite rhododendron, Golden Torch, which I brought from Cardiff, will burst into colour.
And, then of course there are all the wonderful Cornish gardens ranging from RHS Rosemoor, the National Trust's Cotehele House, Lanhydrock, Saltram, the Garden House in Yelverton and many others within easy reach of Sandhill House B&B.
