On the 11 July 2012, we were ‘transported’, to our new ‘country’, England and the beautiful county of Cornwall .
Well! We arrived after the 18 month search for the 'perfect' property. How truly beautiful she is? I really couldn't help it after all the stresses and strains that moving puts on all of us, but I actually did jump for joy and punch the air about half an hour after the removal men started tramping up and down the length and breadth of the house. I just cannot believe it has actually happened. We have to be the luckiest people in the South West to actually live in this house with its truly stunning view over the Tamar Valley.
The house is dark, with dark vinyl wallpaper in the hall, dark red carpet, dark red curtains and acres and acres of old, dull embossed wallpaper through the hallway, stairs and long upstairs ‘grand’ corridor. The bedrooms vary from being quite light to being very dark, but they are almost all en suite, which is a great start.
But, of course, the reality is kicking in. After many years without attention and some pretty poor 'bodged jobs', the house smells very damp, the wallpaper is hanging off everywhere, particularly where furniture had been standing, and our real work has just begun!
