Cornwall's Wildlife Needs You!

Well! If you are a wildlife enthusiast or even just love photographing wildlife, Cornwall's Wildlife Trust has an amazing number of events in August. So if you are planning a trip to Sandhill House B&B Cornwall or perhaps a week's self-catering stay at the Tamar Orchard Barn, then check this link out for August:

We do have our own wildlife here at Sandhill House, including a resident owl that sits in the sycamore tree at the front of the house every morning; the black birds hound it off as dawn breaks and he disappears into our Douglas Firs.

We also had a few problems with a very persistent heron who fancied an easy meal from our formal garden pond, but we now have a very effective heron deterrent net cover.

We also see foxes ranging over the meadows in front of the house during the day! Best of all we had a small herd of deer through the Winter but they really don't like it when the sheep arrive for grazing. But.............. when the sheep disappeared for lambing, when the grass had recovered, and grow up into hay, what did I see a female deer grazing. But when she moved a faun who's head didn't come above the grass, bounded through the hay in those wonderful leaps that only deer and gazelle can achieve. What a lovely sight but sadly too far away for my camera to catch.
