I have to say the Tavistock Dickensian Evening was a really charming and genteele evening with the pretty Christmas lights being turned on at 6pm, the signal for the true festivities to begin with a traditional merry-go-round and street stalls including handsome traction engines, mulled wine, mistletoe and roasted chestnuts, for the most part served by characters all dressed up in Dickensian costumes. Many of the stalls were raising money for charities and the local Donkey Sanctuary near Gunnislake was represented to, with two really beautiful donkeys capturing the hearts of the children.
And to add to the fun The Wreckers Morris Dancers, were out in force, engaging every one in their joyous dancing and music.
The atmosphere was enchanting, with almost all shops open, whilst those that were not had left their lights on to add an extra sparkle.
The Pannier Market was 'buzzing' with a wealth of talented crafts and gifts, including Chocolate Christmas pudding - yuk! but actually it was simply, truly scrumptious.
For sure we will let you know about it well before Christmas so that you can put the special evening in your diary, perhaps as a really enchanting start to a long weekend.
For sure, this is a MUST evening
