I just cannot believe July is just about to arrive! When I agreed to open Sandhill House B&B's gardens on behalf of the great cause, St Luke's Hospice, I had no idea it would come round so quickly! Has 6 months of the year really gone??????
The garden is really a plantsman's garden with some unusual species which used to thrive in the mild South West winters however, a couple lost their battle against the elements this year including a 25 year old Paulownia Tomentosa, about which I am mortified, because it is the most amazing species. However, the garden is also under-going a much needed makeover, as well as the house. A long term of neglect left it looking pretty 'rough' but after several months of very hard work by Rob, it is starting to look like one of the beautiful butterflies that frequent the gardens, which reminds me, I saw a Red Admiral in the Green Lane a couple of days ago.
I am delighted to say that one of the expert creators of the garden, who has nurtured it for 20 years will be coming along on Sunday, so you will be able to ask questions about every aspect of the garden, especially the formal gardens' origins.
So we hope that you can find the time to come along and see and feel what a beautiful 'treasure trove' garden Sandhill House B&B and it's self catering/B&B Tamar Orchard Barn enjoy.
